I need to hear this message often. I especially need to hear it on a Monday morning.

From Good News for Anxious Christians: 10 Practical Things You Don’t Have to Do

:

Every time we turn to Christ in faith it is like a moment of Sabbath, a little foretaste of eternal rest and glory. The gift of that moment lies not in what we do but in what we receive. It is the holy time set aside to receive the greatest gift God ever has to give, which is himself, in his own beloved Son. And so the Scripture commands us to rest, giving us permission to let go of all our practical works and rest in the Beloved….At bottom, it is like the permission to sleep. We give up our exhausting efforts to make our lives come out right and have no choice but to let God rule the world while we rest.

For pastors: Having done our best yesterday, we can now rest in Christ and what he has done, which is more than enough. God rules, and he’s given us all that we need, which means that pastors can find Sabbath rest any day of the week.
