A lot’s been happening on the gender issue in our denomination, but I really don’t have the stomach to get into it. It’s gone from being theological to mostly political, and that’s where I lose interest. I’ve been critical of the tone of the discussion in the past, and I think that’s mostly been deserved. Mostly that’s because the most vocal person on the conservative side is, well, a tad excitable and says a lot of stuff that he really shouldn’t. It’s time to give someone on that side some credit. Randy Mann has written a good article on the issue. While I disagree with Randy on a lot of his paper, he’s at least done his homework and he’s expressed himself fairly well. What we need are for both sides to put their best foot forward and express themselves as well as Randy has, and then to hear each other. Kudos to Randy.
