Philip Yancey

Heard Philip Yancey on a CCN broadcast tonight. He said a lot of good things – how the churches that most impress him aren’t the megachurches, but the ones meeting in a prison or leprosarium or underground in the persecuted church; how the kingdom of heaven can be established in the most unlikely soil, even outside of what we call the church. One statement really caught me in the Q&A session. Somebody asked him about finding a church. He said that he would look for a church that rewards honesty, because a lot of churches punish honesty. I like that. That’s exactly the type of church I like being part of – a church that allows people to be honest. I think I might pick up Yancey’s latest book. Just noticed he’s coming to Toronto on November 13.
