Tip: Remove Bacn from Your Inbox

We all struggle with email. Here’s the single best thing I’ve done recently my inbox under control.

I created a Bacn folder (or label if you’re using GMail). Bacn is stuff you’ve signed up for, like newsletters, so it’s not spam, but it’s not exactly priority email.

Once I set this up, I began to filter all non-urgent email to this folder. I get around to processing this when it’s convenient, and it’s no longer clogging my inbox.

Every time I get a new piece of Bacn that isn’t filtered, I quickly add a filter. It doesn’t take long, and pretty soon the trickle of Bacn slows.

Once in a while, I go through the Bacn folder and unsubscribe to newsletters that no longer interest me.

It’s amazing how much email fits into this category. I find it really helpful to get it out of my inbox so I can deal with the emails that are important.

By the way, I really recommend the Inbox Zero Training Program. The program returns in 13 days if you’re interested.
