A Prayer for the End of Summer

A Prayer for the End of Summer

It’s Labour Day in Canada. Tomorrow the kids go back to school. Summer vacations are over. Summer’s not officially over for a few weeks, but it feels like it’s over today. This is the week that life kicks into high gear again.

It’s an exciting time. Many of our kids are going to new schools, and they’re beginning new chapters in their lives. It’s also one of the busiest seasons in church life as things kick off and as people come back. Lord, help us to redeem the time and take advantage of the opportunities you give us. I pray that we’ll serve you well as we get back to full speed once again.

It’s a scary time. I never feel completely ready for September. We can get lost in the busyness and overwhelmed by the stress. Father, please sustain those who never got the rest they needed this summer. And please help us navigate the challenges we face in the coming months. Give us strength as we deal with the stresses and help us not to get lost in the busyness.

Go with us into this next season of our lives. I pray we’ll look back and see that once again you were all that we needed.

And thank you that we have one day left before we get started again. Amen.
