“Fostering a Praying Church” by Scotty Smith

You may be overwhelmed by the amount of content available for download from The Gospel Coalition’s 2011 National Conference. Let me point your attention to one workshop in particular that I’ve been enjoying. It’s “Fostering a Praying Church” by Scotty Ward Smith. I wasn’t able to attend this workshop, but someone told me about it yesterday. I’ve been listening to it today, and it’s incredibly helpful.

Scotty Smith is Founding Pastor of Christ Community Church in Franklin, TN, and a Council member with The Gospel Coalition. I’ve really appreciated his prayer blog Heavenward. If you’re not reading it, it’s definitely worth checking out. Smith is also worth a follow on Twitter.

It turns out that Smith was mentored by one of my favorite authors and pastors, Jack Miller. Miller is author of The Heart of a Servant Leader

(one of my favorite books) and Outgrowing the Ingrown Church

.

If you download Smith’s workshop you get a bit of his own story, as well as an introduction to Jack Miller and his continuing influence on the church. You will get a picture of what it’s like to be a pastor who’s chief repenter, and who’s prayerfully dependent, continually astonished by the gospel, and who believes that Christ is at work today. I’ll be listening to this one a few times.

Go listen. You won’t regret it.
