The Passion of Christ

A few of us went to see a preview of The Passion of Christ today. The film is going to be released on February 25. It’s hard to describe the impact of the film. We were moved beyond words as we watched the depiction of the last hours of Christ. Few spoke when the movie ended. It’s not fiction. It happened. It’s not a sterile, sanitized story. It’s bloody. It’s violent. As I watched, I wished on one hand that it had not happened. I’m grateful, on the other hand, that it did – but man, was it bad. There will be a lot of hype and criticism when it opens. My first reaction is that it did a much better job of communicating the story than any sermon I’ve ever heard or preached. Powerful stuff.
