The underside of blogging

Jordon Cooper begins his latest post, “This time some of you have crossed the line.” That’s an understatement. As a result of some really stupid comments, it looks like we may lose a couple of really good blogs. I’ve had a few blogger friends really hurt after some very graceless comments were left on their blog. Darren commented on something like this a few days ago. This week, I deleted my first comment. It was completely off-topic and a blatant advertisement for the individual’s own prophecy website. The sad thing is that the most hurtful comments that I’ve seen left on blogs have come from conservative Christians. Some (not all) believe that it’s more important to be right than to be graceful. How wrong. How sad. Update: Fred Peatross responds to Jordon’s post. It’s good to remember that 95% of readers (including conservative ones) are people of goodwill. It’s hard to remember this when somebody’s just attacked your wife – most of us would react pretty strongly – but most readers are good people indeed.
