A better kind of vision

This post is from the defunct blog “Dying Church”

From ChadCanipe.com:

That aside, the whole vision thing has me thinking about the fact that many of the "visions" of churches have more to do with building their own power and influence than it does for the improvement of the cities and people they are seeking to reach (How many times have you seen church signs that say "Come grow with us"?). In fact, I'm beginning to think that our "visions" should be less about us and more about the renewing and reweaving of the fabric of the cities and communities in which our churches are located. It would speak volumes to those we are seeking to reach if we showed them that we are there for the city (town, community, etc.), not for our own self interests.
