Easum-Bandy Tour
I attended the Toronto-area stop of the Easum-Bandy tour today. These guys are modern-day prophets to the North American church. Some highlights: On our mission: “Faithful congregations focus on joining Jesus on the road to mission rather than their own survival.” On confronting church bulliies: “Many of us would rather be nice people than Christian.” On why it’s hard to be the church: “The problem with some people [church leaders] is that they’ve never been in a real church.” On Christian selfishness: “When it’s about me, that’s sin.” On criticism: “Quit worrying about your church. Pray for the disciples. Don’t focus on the screamers and dead-eyes.” On working smarter: “If you’re working more than 30-40 hours as a pastor, you’re doing something wrong.” These are just a few quotes, obviously with some hyperbole. It’s not enough to read these quotes. There’s way more. Easum’s book Unfreezing Moves is a must-read. Even though I’m tired, I couldn’t wait to attend today’s event, and I wasn’t disappointed.
