Stoddart

Last month, I ordered Reginald Bibby’s latest book Restless Gods from Amazon.ca. I’ve since found out that Amazon.ca is unable to find a copy. The reason? Bibby’s publisher, Stoddart, is under bankruptcy protection. That means that although this is a 2002 book, it’s effectively out of print right now.

I was able to find a copy at Chapters.ca. The sad thing is that Bibby probably won’t see a penny from my purchase. I have a friend who has a number of books published by Stoddart, and right now they owe him about $20,000. His books are being purchased, and they own the rights (for now), but he’s out of luck. Talk about heartbreak for some very good authors.
