The Story of Gospel for Life

Planning for G4L

When my wife starting working as an accountant for Precision Nutrition, an online nutrition coaching company, I didn’t know what to think. I’m wary of gimmicks, and until the company earned my trust I was determined to remain skeptical.

Charlene told me one day that she was going to take their nutrition coaching. I was cynical. But as the months went by, I watched her become healthier. I heard her come home and tell me stories about her coworkers. I began to trust this company, the program, and the people.

A couple years later, Charlene convinced me to try their nutrition program. I decided to give it a try. I hoped it would help, but I remained skeptical. The program consists of daily lessons, new habits every two weeks, and online coaching. The lessons were better than I thought, and I found myself changing, not just in my health, but in how I thought. Changes began to seep into other areas of my life.

At the same time, I noticed that the company had a great culture. They were innovative, generous, and fun. Neither of us had ever seen a company culture quite like it. We began to take their coaching certification programs and to learn everything we could from them.

This may sound like it’s an ad for the Precision Nutrition. It isn’t. It’s actually the story of how we began to think about creating a similar program for discipleship, not just for nutrition coaching.

We began to realize that Precision Nutrition was discipling us in good nutrition and in healthy patterns of thinking. As a pastor, I’d often thought about how we disciple people. Charlene and I began to talk about how to apply the methods of Precision Nutrition to Christian discipleship.

Around the same time, Precision Nutrition began to encourage employees to find and use their Unique Ability (an idea from Strategic Coach), so that they are working where they are both skilled and passionate. Charlene already knew that she wasn’t passionate about accounting. With the blessing and support of Precision Nutrition, she left her accounting role and started to work on a coach-backed discipleship program.

Together, we’ve founded Gospel for Life. We want to provide daily lessons, habits, and coaching to help people apply the gospel in every part of life.

We’re also providing the same nutrition program that got us started on this journey, backed by Christian coaches who apply the gospel to this part of our lives.

Right now, we’re getting ready to launch a beta of our discipleship program. In early 2017 we’re going to officially launch both our discipleship program and our nutrition coaching program.

Gospel for Life is born out of a desire to apply the gospel to all of life, backed by solid content and great coaching. We’re excited, and ask for your prayers as we work on this initiative.
