# Honest Ed on money

Toronto icon [“Honest Ed” Mirvish](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed%5FMirvish?ref=dashhouse.com) died last week. Mirvish rose from poverty to become a successful businessman and a patron of the arts and a city builder.

I found this quote from Mirvish interesting from someone who knew both poverty and wealth. He said this about making piles of dough:

“I don’t think it’s that important once you’re not hungry. After a while, you’re nothing but a caretaker or a custodian.”

Profound and reminds me of a [Proverb](http://zondervanbiblesearch.com/ResultsPassage.aspx?Passage=Proverbs+30%3a8-9&Search=proverbs+30%3a8&ref=dashhouse.com) I’ve read a few times – “Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.” Wise words.
