# Getting D.Min.ized

My final D.Min. residency ended last week, which means that I’m in the final leg of getting this thing done. I’ve been clearing some junk from my life to make room for writing this final thesis, which I actually find a little exciting.

With any luck I should graduate next May. We’ll see.

Of course, even then I won’t be overeducated. A friend came over to pick up her daughter yesterday, and I discovered she has a Ph.D. The most educated person in our office – even after I get this degree done – is our office administrator.

Other notes: I tried to meet with [David Wells](http://www.gordonconwell.edu/faculty/wells.php?ref=dashhouse.com), who once wrote an article *The D.Min.ization of the Ministry*, but it didn’t work out. Maybe next time.

The residency was great. It hit me at the end that our cohort had transformed from a group of strangers into somewhat of a community of friends. Every student gained my respect, and I suspect some of them will be longtime friends. And [Haddon](http://www.gordonconwell.edu/faculty/robinson.php?ref=dashhouse.com), once again, was amazing and witty. I’m recovering nicely from some of his zingers.

Back to some reading.
