# Becoming Conversant is out

D.A. Carson’s book is out ([Amazon.com](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0310259479/dashhouse-20?ref=dashhouse.com) and [Amazon.ca](http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/0310259479/dashhouse0c-20?ref=dashhouse.com)). I can’t wait to get my copy, which should be arriving soon. Carson is the most famous graduate of [the school](http://heritage-theo.edu/?ref=dashhouse.com) where I got my M.Div. and is [my denomination’s](http://www.fellowship.ca/?ref=dashhouse.com) favorite son, so I need to know what he’s saying. [Scot McKnight](http://www.jesuscreed.blogspot.com/?ref=dashhouse.com) has done a great job interacting with the book (starting [here](http://jesuscreed.blogspot.com/2005/04/preface.html?ref=dashhouse.com)). [Andrew Jones](http://tallskinnykiwi.typepad.com/tallskinnykiwi/2005/04/the%5Fbook%5Fby%5Fdr%5F.html?ref=dashhouse.com) has some good advice:

> Those of you that wish to critique Dr Carson’s book on your blogs or on Amazon, please be nice and godly and gentle and generous, even if you don’t agree with his accusations. We need critics to blow-torch us and we should honor all who try. Sometimes we must be willing to lose the battle so that the Body of Christ can win.

Dr. Carson is brilliant and I suspect he’ll have some things we need to hear, even if we disagree with him at points.
