# Remembrance Day

I’m spending Remembrance Day in an area that was regularly bombed during the war. Just down the road is a house that was completely destroyed in a bombing raid. Later we’re in Canterbury which was [almost completely flattened](https://www.dashhouse.com/darryl/2004/11/remembrance%5Fday.htm) during the war. We’re not far from Dover which was the headquarters for the [Dunkirk evacuation](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation%5FDynamo?ref=dashhouse.com). All that to say that it’s not hard to imagine how terrible the war was and how much it cost. It’s hard not to remember and be thankful.
