# I am who?

Today I gave a message called *I am Gomer*, based on [Hosea 1](http://www.biblegateway.com/cgi-bin/bible?passage=Hosea+1&MSG%5Fversion=yes&language=english&x=12&y=12&ref=dashhouse.com) in the Bible. It’s a strange but beautiful story. Hosea, a prophet, is told to marry a prostitute, Gomer, so he can live out what it’s like for God to be in relationship with his people. Gomer is unfaithful, but Hosea keeps taking her back. It’s a beautiful picture of God’s love. It seems quite a few people thought I might be speaking on Gomer Pyle from the [Andy Griffith Show](http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0053479/?ref=dashhouse.com). To make it worse, I could have sworn that I heard a deacon say something about [Homer](http://www.thesimpsons.com/bios/bios%5Ffamily%5Fhomer.html?ref=dashhouse.com) (not Gomer) in his communion prayer. It would seem that we’re all watching a little too much T.V.
