The late [Robertson Davies](http://www.harrypalmergallery.ab.ca/galcompad/davies.html?ref=dashhouse.com), one of my favorite authors, would have been a great blogger. I’m savoring a [collection of his early letters](http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/0771035403/dashhouse0c-20?ref=dashhouse.com), written from 1938-1975\. After reading the following letter, I can imagine him taking on the likes of [Josh Claybourn](http://www.joshclaybourn.com/?ref=dashhouse.com). I love his wit.

> Dear Madam: I think I understood you to say, in your Wednesday night radio address, *that the tempo of living in Australia is markedly slower than that of this continent.* Madam, beware! You have trodden on the rattlesnake of local patriotism!
