A year of reading dead people
I feel the pull to read a lot of dead people this year. Here's a list of books I've got lined up to read:
- Puritan Reading Challenge
- George Whitefield Volumes I and II by Arnold Dallimore
- The Valley of Vision: A Collection of Puritan Prayers & Devotions
- Body of Divinity by Thomas Watson
- Ancient Christian Devotional
- The Works of Jonathan Edwards
- The Christian Ministry by Charles Bridges
- Revival by Martyn Lloyd-Jones
- Repentance and the 21st Century Man by Jack Miller
- Letters of Samuel Rutherford
- Institutes of Christian Religion by John Calvin
- The Works of Andrew Fuller
Should keep me busy for a while. I have a few books by living people I'll throw in as well. Let me know if you have read any of these books and have any advice to offer.
Daryl,
Thanks for taking the challenge. I (and I believe) others would enjoy hearing your thoughts and reflections on the books. The other books look great as well, especially Watson's Body of Divinity and Bridges' The Christian Ministry --two books which have impacted me and encouraged me greatly. One you might also want to consider with Bridges' book is An Earnest Ministry by John Angell James (also by Banner of Truth). In any case, I hope these books be a great encouragement to you this year.
Grace and peace,
Timmy Brister
Finally you're reading some (historical) theology.
Darryl,
The Works of Jonathan Edwards - how are your eyes? Dude, I think they use 7 point font for that beast! That one alone will take most of your year, my friend.

I may have to buy one of those page magnifiers that I see seniors use!
