Happy raking

| | Comments (4)

It doesn't look like much, but there are 19 containers of yard waste there for pick-up tomorrow. Who knew raking could be so therapeutic?

I've been in the yard the past few days listening to the Revive Your Soul Conference that took place in Toronto in March. Household chores are a lot more fun when you have Dallas Willard, Larry Crabb, and Gordon MacDonald on your iPod.

I KNOW we need trees. I think they are beautiful under normal circumstances.

But at this time of year, I HATE 'em!

At last count I had seven TRAILER LOADS of leaves that I had cleaned up for customers, and that is not taking into account the one's that use the leaves for mulch.

Oh yeah, in case you were wondering, - my trailer is 6' X 10' X 4'!

Are those mp3s online anywhere?

Nineteen containers! Yikes!
Now if you only had the same type of great Italian nighbour I've got, he'd come over and rake those leaves up for you (providing they were freshly fallen, and of the right species; cherry leaves work well) and would haul them back to his own garden, where he'd have dug large holes to bury and mulch them in for his next year's garden!
Are you green with envy? (smile)
I went out and joined him; we have great yard-fellowship together.

Speaking of envy, that's pretty much how I had eyed that Toronto conference for months...Willard and Crabb...doesn't get much better than that, as far as getting real with what following Christ and knowing God pans out like, in real life.

Anybody can get Crabb's day-and-a half conference (now re-titled Life On The Narrow Road--No Shortcuts, No Formulas, Just LIFE) to come to their city. You need only gather 300 or so participants. Conference costs about 65$/head.

Many of our churches would probably need a Blackaby repentance/awakening conference first though.

I don't think we're ready for getting real with our sin, or even realizing we have much of any holiness/growth issues or needs.

Maybe you'll post some of your take-aways from all your listening!

Where did the PaPA Prayer take you to?

I have the CDs. I'll get them to you.

So many takeaways. I think I was reminded of the availability of living in God's power rather than my own. Nothing new but it's amazing how badly I needed to hear this message.

Also some good sessions on prayer and the soul. MacDonald talked about the need for ongoing, daily conversion.
