Mark Driscoll apologizes for his post at Out of Ur:

A godly friend once asked me an important question: “What do you want to be known for?” I responded that solid theology and effective church planting were the things that I cared most about and wanted to be known for. He kindly said that my reputation was growing as a guy with good theology, a bad temper, and a foul mouth. This is not what I want to be known for...I am publicly asking for forgiveness from both Brian and Doug because I was wrong for attacking them personally and I was wrong for the way in which I confronted positions with which I still disagree. I also ask forgiveness from those who were justifiably offended at the way I chose to address the disagreement. I pray that you will accept this posting as a genuine act of repentance for my sin...Please forgive me and pray for me.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if EVERYONE, on either side of the EC debate could have the same attitude reflected in Mark's apology

HuH. I've read a great deal around Brian McLaren, I'd never read him until Out of Ur.

Then I read Driscolls response and I was offended. Who needs that nonsense? His attitude was a serious turn off and one of the many reasons I dodge theologians when they start that kind of attack.

What impressed me was McLaren's response, enough that if there is more of him to read, I'll probably go out of my way to do so.

I'm glad to see Driscoll apologized. If he has (as his friend claims) good theology, maybe that's what we'll get to see if he can stop attacking.
And McLaren's gracious response, patience and clarity certainly didn't hurt Mark Driscoll after his confrontative stance did it?
