A couple of weeks ago we found shingles on our driveway, never a good sign. I did a temporary fix, but the fix wasn't good enough to keep the rain from getting into our house yesterday. We found a good contractor and the problem is fixed.
The problem: stupid raccoons trying to get into our house. Those raccoons just cost me more money than I like to spend on even animals that I like. And I don't like raccoons.
They didn't get into the attic, and I'm glad. Raccoons can do a lot of damage once they're inside. Toronto has taken away all the fun and it's not easy to legally trap them or shoot them, although it's okay to drive them away with talk radio.
Not long ago someone with PETA tried to sign me up. She asked, "Do you like animals?" I wish I had said, "Depends how they're cooked." If these raccoons come back I'm firing up the BBQ and getting some good sauce ready.
Remember Raccoons are friends, we don't eat raccoons (Bruce - aka Nemo) http://www.hsus.org/wildlife/a_closer_look_at_wildlife/raccoons.html
Okay, but is there an address where I can send them a bill?
Don't know if it will work with the loonies you have running Toronto City Council, but a local chap here had the same problem.
When he was told by our town council that he couldn't trap the 'coons and take them further than 1 Km. away from their range, (i.e. from where he trapped them,)he trapped them anyway and delivered them to one of the councillor's homes. Of course, the councillor complained, so the guy sent the town council the bill for the repairs to the wiring in his house.
They refused to pay the bill, but the guy received permission to take the culprits further out into the country.
PETA needs to give their collective heads a shake. I am all for the ethical (humane) treatment of animals, but there has to be some common sense. When an animal causes the kind of damage to a house that racoons and squirrels and chipmonks can cause, that animal's rights end where mine begin. Either that, or PETA can pay for the repairs.
you have to be nice to these raccoons whether you like them or not....heeee....heeee.....not that i cannot stop laughing now....
i know that they are a little pain in the butt but they are animals too you know - you have to be nice to them....you can look at them and see what they will do next...but it is really not a good idea to eat to them or will it be a pretty sight....ugh!!!.....
i cannot wait to see you have a raccoon fit though.....that is really going to be fun to see....
its been awhile buddy since i have last laugh at sometime like this....heeee....heeee....
darryl and the raccoons....yay!!! way to go! :o)
I may have left everyone with the wrong impression. I absolutely love raccoons...especially with the right BBQ sauce.
Man, never knew there were so many nature lovers in these parts! Next you'll be protesting my mousetraps. ;)
I have a cat I could contribute to your BBQ...even include the sauce and postage.
Okay I think I am going to report all of you to the society for the prevention of cruelty to animals ;-)
...besides everyone knows cats taste better boiled than bbq!
