Blog hiccups

I've upgraded to Movable Type 3.0, and I'm not sure I like it. I can't use MT-Blacklist with this version, and I'm having to deal (again) with all kinds of comment spam.

That led me to use some new features, which aren't going so well either. If you leave a comment while logged in through TypeKey, the comment gets posted right away. If not, I have to approve the comment first. That gets rid of spam, but I don't like it, nor is it working too smoothly.

Meanwhile, I'm wondering whether I should give Expression Engine a try. There's always Fusion Publisher, eh LT?

Update: Just found out my host doesn't meet the requirements for Expression Engine. Guess I'll spend some time this weekend getting Movable Type working right.

Wow how much comment spam do you get and of what nature?

I get lots of comment spam - sometimes 5 or 6 an hour if I leave it open. Usually it's just a comment like "Thanks for the info" with a link to a pornographic site. They do this so they'll rise in Google's ranking system (which is based on incoming links).

Ugh. :(

Wordpress. :)

Now that I have the MT blacklist installed I'm coping. I get anywhere from a few a day to 10 an hour.
Busy bunch the commment spammers. They work around the clock and really buckle down over holidays. I wonder how much they get paid an hour?:^)

Curious - is there some way to "bulk approve" particular email addresses or IP addresses for commenting purposes, even if they aren't logged in through typekey?

Once you approve a comment, all future comments from that person are accepted without moderation. That doesn't seem to work, so I've rolled back all the comment features until they've fixed the bugs. Supposedly these are known issues.

The porn industry should burn.

I think I'll stick to To MT free version...
