Worth Considering
As a follower of Christ, two beliefs hold a significant place in my life perspective. The first is that my earthly efforts and energies are of value only to the extent that they are available to God to be used by Him. That said, there are many times I find myself living out my days, caught up in the affairs and circumstances of the moment, with no thought of God at all. It goes completely against my nature to live in the light of what I believe. The second belief is my hope in the resurrection, of life beyond the body, a new heaven and a new earth, lived in the presence of Jesus.
These two beliefs are united together in one thought by C.S.Lewis in Mere Christianity:
"Nothing in you that has not died will ever be raised from the dead."
To die in my entirety requires a moment by moment surrender. It is a painful, agonizing, task which requires the greatest of discipline.
It is, however, a goal worth considering.
