In one moment I try so hard,
sometimes too hard and, in my efforts to join You,

the exceptional service that I can offer to You.

the unexceptional opportunities You give to me each day.

Lord, forgive my foolish actions.

I long for greatness,
You ask me to be the least that I may see more clearly the One who is truly great,
I long for praise,
You call me to obscurity that I may better hear Your words of praise,
I look for joy and strength and honour,
You lead me into suffering, weakness and shame that I may comprehend more fully Your abiding presence,
I search for wholeness,
You offer me your brokenness,
I chase after life,
You lived to die,
I say I follow You,
seldom it is true.

Lord, forgive my foolish heart.

Oh the grace that is required,
That He should love a soul like mine,
To wash away with His own blood,
My stubborn faults and proud designs.
Forgive my pride, my arrogance,
My selfish, blundering ways,
Heal up the wounds,
Break down the walls,
That in my sin I've made.
Turn back my heart,

To listen for Your voice,
Gold from the fire,
And clothes of white,

Lord, lead me now, once more.

The week before Darryl left for England some patches of shingles blew off the roof of our house. Some of the patches were large enough to leave the wood beneath exposed to the rain pouring down so we were out there, Darryl on the ladder, me holding it, both of us in the rain trying to cover the spots.

Apparently it was a sign.

We're doing fairly well here at DashHouse without the big guy. We arrived a little late for school today but things are generally moving along in normal fashion. As we drove past the church today Josiah said, "Hey, is that dad's car? Is he at the church right now?" So I say, "Well, that's dad's car, remember Lucas' dad came to pick it up the other night? So I think that Ed is at church right now." To which I then have to explain how dad got to the airport without his car, that he took an airplane to England, numerate the number of days until dad returns, assure my wonderful thinker that we have a sticker on the calendar to show when daddy comes home and tell him that we can mark off each day until he returns. 2 down, 6 to go.
