Char's Blog
Worth Considering
As a follower of Christ, two beliefs hold a significant place in my life perspective. The first is that my earthly efforts and energies are of value only to the extent that they are available to God to be used by Him. That said, there are many times I find myself living out my days, caught up in the affairs and circumstances of the moment, with no thought of God at all. It goes completely against my nature to live in the light of what I believe. The second belief is my hope in the resurrection, of life beyond the body, a new heaven and a new earth, lived in the presence of Jesus.
These two beliefs are united together in one thought by C.S.Lewis in Mere Christianity:
"Nothing in you that has not died will ever be raised from the dead."
To die in my entirety requires a moment by moment surrender. It is a painful, agonizing, task which requires the greatest of discipline.
It is, however, a goal worth considering.
Excellent post Char! I can relate to the "living out my days...with no thought of God at all" part. Many times my 'to do' list leaves God out. I give sloppy seconds to the one who loves me most.
Sad.
Profundity, thy name is Charlene.
Darryl, you really ought to invite your lovely wife to speak at Richview sometime. Just be sure to let me know when that is going to happen. I want to be there.
Arthur:
What? You've never come to hear me speak! I suppose I deserve that since I did recently give you The Bishop's Finger. ;)
great post! ...I just discovered your blog today and have to say I really like it! ...I like how you write and share about your life, the quotes you choose to share...the way it all points to the Father:)
I have so been to hear you speak! At least twice that I can think of. I must admit that I enjoyed hearing you, Bro., but if you were to invite Char to speak, I would make the effort to haul myself down the 401 again for sure.
Oh, and about that Bishop's Finger.....you wouldn't by chance have another?
Don't worry Darryl there's a way more to pastoring than preaching.
