Rains of the Soul
Spring has been cold, rainy and late this year and now I'm feeling like some of the weather has moved into my soul. Life has become some kind of blur over the last four days. I have never taken for granted that life goes on the way it is - that we can count on what we have in this life to remain - but still there is no easy pathway through pain, loss and change. As I drove to Newmarket on Thursday night I played "Awesome God: A Tribute to Rich Mullins". Tears rolled down my face. "Hold Me Jesus", "Calling Out Your Name", "If I Stand", "I See You", "Bound to Come Some Trouble". Light and love - threads of divine presence in the midst of my pain. Dad has fractures in 5 vertebrae, 2 in his neck and 3 in his back. Yet, he's alive and, so far, there is no nerve damage nor paralysis. It's nothing short of a miracle. That said, life changed in my world on June 12. It hit me hard on Friday. On my return trip home Friday night I found comfort yet again in Mullins, "Songs 2": "Where You Are", "Step by Step", "I See You", "The Just Shall Live", "Somewhere" and again, "Bound to Come Some Trouble". There's alot going on in my heart and in my head that will likely find it's way to these pages at some point in time.
Calling Out Your Name (COYN), http://www.kidbrothers.net/, has song lists, lyrics and midis of Mullins' songs.
