Goats Rescued

From The Canadian Press:

HELENA, Mont. — Two young goats that wandered onto the thin ledge of a railroad bridge and spent two days high above a highway were hungry but safe when they were plucked to safety with a towering crane...

Church said it wasn't clear how the nimble-footed animals got into the predicament, but she speculated they wandered onto the ledge at night then froze after the sun rose and they discovered where they were.

There's a sermon illustration in there somewhere.

A sermon, if not an entire series.Interesting that it received Canadian press coverage. Things a bit slow north of the border? Hockey season can't come soon enough.

Chris:It even made the New York Times: http://nyti.ms/8YOoMK“Everybody loves an animal with a story." Indeed. You mean it didn't make the news in Stillman Valley?

"All we like sheep have gone astray,...."Do goats count, I wonder?

Art - - that's it! After covering the sheep straying point, we can transition to the sheep and the goats (Matt 25) and stress that while sheep persevere, by grace, the goats will be sorted out, as it were.

Daryl, it's football season in the Valley. We only have one sort of press coverage right now.

"After having steeled away in the middle of the night from the trauma induced set of 'men who stare at goats' - these two goats were left to contemplate the meaning of life. The stood precariously on the edge of the bridge wondering if it was worth it. They had been lured to this movie under the pretense of stardom but yet again they were indeed the 'but' of everyone's jokes."Haven't we all felt like this? Disappointment makes us ask deep questions of ourselves, life, the meaning of the universe.
