Consuming Jesus blog

I really enjoyed reading Paul Metzger's book Consuming Jesus. Metzger is concerned that, without knowing it, evangelicals have become insensitive to issues of race and class divisions within the church. Metzger's book is about consumerism and how it affects the church in reinforcing the race and class divisions of society, and how it distorts our view of Jesus and his call on our lives.

I blogged about the book back in October 2007.

The book now has a website and blog. If you're interested in this topic, check it out.

Darryl, Thank you for your review of Consuming Jesus and for making note of the Consuming Jesus blog. There are many avenues on the blog to explore and dialogue about consumerism and division in the church. One of these avenues is the Consuming Jesus study guide, which is available on the site. Below is the direct link: http://consumingjesus.org/wp-content/consuming-jesus-study-guide.pdf. Just thought you might be interested in checking it out. Thanks again!
