Highlights from a full weekend

  • I spent Friday and Saturday with my mother, brothers, sister, and their families at the Nottawasaga Inn. The older we get, the rarer these weekends become. I loved every minute.
  • On Sunday we went to Thistletown Baptist, where my friend Ken Davis pastors. Ken spoke on one of my favorite passages (Jeremiah 29) on praying for the city. He is one of the best examples I know of a theologian-pastor or scholarly practitioner, and that is one of the highest compliments I could pay. I like to think of Thistletown as a sister church, because I love what they're doing, and it was very encouraging to be there.
  • On Sunday afternoon we headed to the lake where Serena Ryder and others were performing for free. I listened long enough to realize that Serena doesn't suffer from comparison to other artists. Simply amazing. I even got to meet her, and she seemed very nice, although I think you get more attention if you actually have an album there for her to sign (I didn't bring mine and didn't want to buy a double).
  • Today, caught up around home while enjoying the sounds of the CNE Airshow overhead. There seem to have been some complaints about noise but I love it, especially when you feel the vibrations from the planes passing overhead. The Snowbirds didn't seem to pass over our house as much this year but it was still lots of fun. Paul Martin links to a video of the noisiest (and most enjoyable) plane from the show.

Back to full throttle tomorrow.
