Oh Leafs!
Monday, October 8, 2007 at 9:31AM We were given tickets to see the Leafs on Saturday night. Not just any tickets - Platinum tickets, just 9 rows up from the ice, right near the tunnel that the Leafs use to go in and out of their dressing room. You can see where we were sitting by the arrow below:
The Leafs were playing the Habs. We were surrounded by Habs fans and for a while things weren't looking good. The Leafs pulled one out near the end of overtime and we left the ACC very satisfied.
Man, does the game look different that close!
We may never get seats like this again in our lives, but we enjoyed every minute - even when the Montreal fans around us thought they had the game in the bag.

Just imagine how good those tickets would have been if the Leafs hadn't been playing. I would see if you could get a refund of maybe some Calgary Flames tickets. Buffalo isn't that far to drive either. There is also Detroit...
Actually, it was perfect. Both teams are lousy so they're evenly matched, but you have the historic rivalry. I love seeing games between the original six, even though the talent is often sadly lacking in these matches (like the last NHL game I saw between Boston and Montreal).
Be thankful you were there at all. When I was a pre-teen my father's company subscribed to seats all over Maple Leaf Gardens and at least once our name came up for rail tickets. They were right on the corner and when the players crashed into the rails we just about flew out of our seats. Today, I live and move in a different economic situation. I've never seen the inside of the Air Canada Centre and neither have my kids. I possibly never will. My oldest gets offered youth group tickets for the Raptors, but they're out of our price range, too. It was a different world back then; things were less elitist. But I'm not discouraged... if I ever really want to see the place, I could always dump all my theological convictions and go see Benny Hinn sometime.
Paul: I'm really glad we were able to get in. Those types of tickets aren't in our price range; it may be a very long time before we get to a game at all, even in the so-called cheap seats (no such thing at the ACC really!) We looked around and thought about the money that is dropped for a single game - unbelievable when you start to think about it.
