Nothing but it

I was reading in U2BYU2 about the early days of the band. They would go to these music competitions and see other bands. A lot of these bands were a lot more skilled. Bono says:
There were bands there that could play in time and in tune and with great confidence, all of which we couldn't pull off. But, you know, some bands have everything but it. We had nothing but it.
I've been in churches that have everything but it. I'm longing to be part of a church that has nothing but it.

I'm thinking that it is more caught than taught, that it's almost a DNA thing. You're right, though. When itis missing, it's hard to get things going.

Nice post. Encouraging. You took our attention to the 'it' in last sunday's sermon (only 'it' was a He). What would our churches look like if they had Him, and not necessarily a whole lot of other things? They'd be revolutional, that's what. They'd have 'it'. :~)

Hey, "revolutional"... I may use that...

I agree that everything without "it" is dissatisfying. However, I don't see everything and "it" as an either/or. Why not just get "it" back, if we already have "everything" (which I'm not convinced as many do as think they do)? And how many of you remember the "I Found It" fad? Another Christian flash in the pan. Assuming they had "it," ISTM that lacking the "everything else" precluded sustaining the "it" alone. Looks like both/and is the way to go - hence Webber's "Ancient-Future" focus.
