Degus

A friend of ours bought a degu a few months back. In a weak moment I agreed to buy my kids a couple of female degus, supposedly just weeks old. We came home with two pregnant degus and we ended up with twelve babies a short time later.

We have eight of them available now to a good home. Most are male so they're guaranteed not to be pregnant. They are much better than hamsters because they are awake during the day and much more social. Please, please, please, take some of our degus! (They are best to take in pairs because they are social creatures.) They really are endearing but you don't want this many of them.

Update: So far, no takers. I guess I'm going to have to send them to LT and Carol as wedding presents. ;)

Wish I could help. We "rescued" three females from an animal shelter last year, so we have our hands full already. The Atlantic is also something of a barrier! Perhaps there's a small animal rescue society near you that might help?
