jason clark: What's wrong with Christians?
Monday, July 11, 2005 at 6:12PM This post is from the defunct blog "Dying Church"
There are so many books about the problems of church, it's leadership, it's style, it's ecclessiology, it's abuses etc etc.
But when was the last time you read a book about what was wrong with christians, who have have given up on church? It's easy to bash church, and popular to lambast institutions, to critique an organization.
Reminds me of the person who said that we don't just have a crisis of leadership, we also have a crisis of followership.
More reaction here.

Right on! I have worked with Pastors like the ones mentioned in July 12 post and then became church music coordinator much in the same vein. I realized I had problem and quit, but then spent the next year ranting about the church. Now I'm at the point where I need to quit whining and go to church with an open heart and an open mind.
I think one reason why we don't see books like this is because it's easy and popular to point the finger at "fixable problems" such as addictions, bad planning, etc. But when we point that finger at ourselves, we suddenly have to do something with US - the INTERNAL - vs. fixing the external. I have been a part of a music and worship online discussion list that mirrored this sad reality to the tee... as long as our discussions were about what SONGS to sing (or not sing) or what SONG STYLES were appropriate or not appropriate for worship, we were fine. But the moment I brought up the question "Do WE really grasp what worship is all about" - I was suddenly placed on this forum's "bad list" and from that point on every single comment I made was hammered by a few very loud posters... these are Christians, by the way... so this comment really hits home... By the way, I left that list...
