My new pocket assistant

050208.jpg I know some of you are bored with my switch to a Mac, but I have to show you my new personal assistant. Those of you who use a Palm with a Mac - I don't know how you do it. I tried a Palm again yesterday and it was aweful. The Palm is the opposite of what a Mac experience should be. It isn't nearly as enjoyable to use as it should be. Give Microsoft credit: their Pocket PCs aren't bad. I can synchronize with a Mac, but it won't be fully functional, so why bother? There are some things that are better done with paper, especially when that paper is in a Moleskine notebook.

Shame on you!!! Do you know how many moles had to give their lives to cover that notebook? ;)

Hey, where have you come across a moleskine? I was just talking to LT about getting one of these.

I've had these notebooks for a while: http://www.dashhouse.com/darryl/001146.htm" rel="nofollow">http://www.dashhouse.com/darryl/001146.htm Hmmm, now I'm curious. Who blogged about them?

Moleskin notebooks are nice, but I'm curious why you can't sync your palm with your mac. What brand PDA is it? The Palm software works nicely with the Mac and with the isync conduit, everything syncs with ical and the address book. But, some hardware needs special drivers the manufacturers don't want you to know about.

I set it up okay with a Zire 92, which seemed like a cheap plastic toy. But set-up wasn't the out of the box experience you'd expect, and Palm support for Mac seems iffy. Plus it's hard to go back to Palm when you're used to Pocket PC. Input is so much nicer, and it syncs both home and business addresses. I just couldn't see being happy with the Palm platform again. It seemed like a backward step.

I still use my Palm for names and addresses and calendar, but I've gone back to the good old notepad for daily to do lists for the staff and mission. BTW, congrats on the switch. I have finally found a place in Sosua to plug in my Powerbook. Maybe I can get a bit more blogging done now!

Yeah. I hear you about the clunky Palm interface. :(

Not wanting to start the palm v's windows wars but your comments surprise me. I wonder if it is what you are used to. I have used many palms and in particular I love agendus prog on the palm. I used a windows pc for about six months and it just didnt feel right and I never found an app that was as good as agendus. I want to get a moleskin, though they are very expensive in Australia.

I'm sure it's what you get used to. Mac is so graceful. I find that Pocket PCs are a lot more graceful and intuitive than Palms.
