Glad it wasn't one of my worst

One of the sermon evaluations that cracked me up was from one of our seniors. She was brutal in her marks. She gave me the lowest marks out of anyone. What made me laugh was that she wrote, "This was one of Darryl's best sermons." Others were a little more encouraging. I'm hoping she got mixed up on which end of the scale was the positive side.

Darryl, Forgiven has a great post on "8 Ways We Can Encourage Our Pastor" located here: http://terib.blogspot.com/2004/09/8-ways-to-encourage-your-pastor.html" rel="nofollow">http://terib.blogspot.com/2004/09/8-ways-to-encourage-your-pastor.html" rel="nofollow">http://terib.blogspot.com/2004/09/8-ways-to-encourage-your-pastor.html Sorry, but I don't know how to create a link in comments. I liked the post and thought of what you have been posting when I read it. Good luck brother.

Just don't forget that preaching is only one dimension of a pastor's ministry so don't get discouraged too easily.

Why do you have to have people fill out sermon evaluations? Is it for them, or is it for leadership? What is the object of the exercise? It sounds like those customer service cards at Tim Hortons...only you get the feedback right away. That has to suck pavement. Blog on eh?

I wouldn't have to, except for the D.Min. The first year project is to get evaluative feedback like this. Now I have to interpret all the findings. Most of it is excellent, especially when you ignore the extremes on either side. Some genuinely good stuff there. Wouldn't want to do it every week, though.
