In motion

I'm traveling home tomorrow. In some ways, it seems like I've been here forever. When in crisis mode, it's hard to remember what normal life looks like. I'll be glad to stop running around. They don't like when you do that on airplanes these days, so I'll just have to sit. I can't wait to see my family again. The past three times I've been here, we've been able to set a lot of things in motion, but we've never been able to wrap things up. If all goes well, Dad's bills will be looked after, he will be assessed by social services and receive some domestic care, and we'll have greater control over his affairs. If things don't go well, I'll either have to sort them out from Canada or come over for a couple of days this Fall. The bottom line is that it's hard to care for an aging father with dementia from across the ocean. Thanks to everyone who's been so kind to me. Things have gone right that I couldn't have planned. It will be nice to return to normal life, whatever that is.

it's hard enough to take care of a parent in need across the city .. I can only imagine the difficulties when you add an ocean between you! You dad has a good son in you.
