Leadership in the post-whatever

By Jen Lemen:
this is leadership to me in the post-whatever era. that we wander along together, gathering hope, admitting more and more to one another that none of us can do it alone and that we are all wonderfully broken, in need of guidance, taking turns playing sage, jester and host.

And if we're all about static inertia, I suppose this leadership model will do for lack of any other. But if we're planning on going anywhere (as in Matthew 28), we'll need to do better than that. In the final analysis, destination is just as important as the journey.

Wonderfully broken?

Mike: I don't know if this type of leadership leads to static inertia any more than the usual charismatic leader model. It's worth exploring. I can see a community like this being very focused on making disciples. George: I suspect that she means being secure in God's grace despite our sinfulness and weakness, as opposed to pretending that we're all okay. I agree that we are not exactly wonderful in our brokenness apart from God's grace.

Mike: Alan Creech might have been saying the same thing as you here: http://www.vbcc.net/alancreech/2004/07/why-liturgy-helps-part-one.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.vbcc.net/alancreech/2004/07/why-liturgy-helps-part-one.html "So, yes, I understand how you get there. But the question still remains: how are we to be the church? By being nothing? I'm not thinking that's the answer."
