Childless couple told to try sex

From Ananova, found through Tell it in Love:
A German couple who went to a fertility clinic after eight years of marriage have found out why they are still childless - they weren't having sex... Doctors subjected them to a series of examinations and found they were both apparently fertile, and should have had no trouble conceiving. A clinic spokesman said: "When we asked them how often they had had sex, they looked blank, and said: "What do you mean?". "We are not talking retarded people here, but a couple who were brought up in a religious environment who were simply unaware, after eight years of marriage, of the physical requirements necessary to procreate."
Talk about eight wasted years.

No way... this seems so strange and un-natural. Hmmm...

You've got to be kidding! This is another of those "Lark News" things, right?

I believe it. Some religious sects are aesthetic like that and I've met men who are so stone cold...therapy even viagra may be needed.

As far as I can tell, it's not satire. The Ananova site looks legit.

What a sad commentary on how people can be out of touch.

When you told me about this last night it got me thinking...Either I'm way off - but I find a hard time believing it's true. Man and woman in same bed for eight years and they're that committed to some freaked out religious beliefs that they don't respond to any physical urges. I don't know, seems way too far fetched... So, anyway, it made me laugh, but I can't bring myself to believe it that it could possibly be true. But it did make me laugh.

I'm pretty sure it's true. One of the counseling professors at my old college encountered a very similar situation, but I think they had only been married for three or four years. They were horrified at his suggestion to have sex, and had to go ask their pastor if it was ok for Christians to do that, before they would believe him...

Historically I know that for the R.C. church a basis for granting annulments to marriages has been when no sexual intercourse has taken place.
