Great preachers

Haddon Robinson, the preaching professor for my D.Min., on characteristics of great preachers:
The pastor of a local church who knows his or her people and brings to them a Word from God in that context, will preach a great sermon. The noted preachers are usually well known because they occupied well-known pulpits. What distinguishes them it is that they spoke to the condition of their day.
