Secure

I was talking with someone recently about a pastor up the road. He told me that this pastor has a quality that most pastors don't: he's secure. I know the guy, and he's right. He is a very flawed individual who is only good (excellent, actually) at a few things, but he majors in those areas and has a great team around him. He is not driven by the approval of others, and his security actually makes him more receptive to criticism. He can take it because he isn't threatened by it. He isn't driven by the approval of others. I don't know how secure I am. I suppose that I'm more secure than I used to be. I took a hit today - probably an unfair hit - and found that I didn't overreact. I'm still in process, but it wasn't until I heard this comment that I really began to think about security as being an important quality to develop.
