The Passion of Christ
Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at 2:28PM
A few of us went to see a preview of The Passion of Christ today. The film is going to be released on February 25. It's hard to describe the impact of the film. We were moved beyond words as we watched the depiction of the last hours of Christ. Few spoke when the movie ended. It's not fiction. It happened. It's not a sterile, sanitized story. It's bloody. It's violent. As I watched, I wished on one hand that it had not happened. I'm grateful, on the other hand, that it did - but man, was it bad. There will be a lot of hype and criticism when it opens. My first reaction is that it did a much better job of communicating the story than any sermon I've ever heard or preached. Powerful stuff.

I have been pondering going with Mick across the road - a bloke who is not a christian yet - I am concerned for how it might impact me! the previews were gut wrenching enough that I found myelf weeping. Is it worht taking a non-christian to?
Definitely. It might be worth seeing alone first. I don't know if I could talk about it with someone right after seeing it for the first time.
I kept asking myself how this will play through the eyes of a non-believer. The phrase "shock and awe" comes to mind. They would likely leave the theatre asking, "Why?", and the church (you and I) need to be ready to answer that question.

Fabulous
The movie was very real. And brings you to revival. Renews our love for Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior. It is very person and the Lord touches you personally.
I loved the movie. It gave me a revival and helped me to understand fuller how much Jesus loves us. It helped me understand how hard it was for Christ to take the sins of the world upon himself so we could have a chance at eternal life. I think this movie is going to convert millions of people to Christianity and help them to love Jesus better.
