From the Toronto Star:
Fauja Singh rules. The retired farmer originally from Jalandhar in northwest India is currently the world's fastest long-distance runner born before World War I. Now a resident of Ilford, England, the 93-year-old great-grandfather is in Toronto this week, seeking to better his own world record as he joins more than 1,000 other runners competing for $38,000 in prize money in tomorrow's ScotiaBank Toronto Waterfront Marathon.Update: I've been thinking - exactly how many long-distance runners are there that were born before World War I?
