I am who?

Today I gave a message called I am Gomer, based on Hosea 1 in the Bible. It's a strange but beautiful story. Hosea, a prophet, is told to marry a prostitute, Gomer, so he can live out what it's like for God to be in relationship with his people. Gomer is unfaithful, but Hosea keeps taking her back. It's a beautiful picture of God's love. It seems quite a few people thought I might be speaking on Gomer Pyle from the Andy Griffith Show. To make it worse, I could have sworn that I heard a deacon say something about Homer (not Gomer) in his communion prayer. It would seem that we're all watching a little too much T.V.
