Almost there

It's been a crazy week. I don't know why I accepted so much to do this week. A lot of it was forced on me, but it's been the busiest week in recent memory. And we all know that hurry is the enemy of the soul. The highlight for me was last night. I performed a wedding ceremony for a friend of a friend at the Royal Canadian Legion. It wasn't my usual churchy crowd. It was great. Minutes after the ceremony, everyone was lined up at the bar. Somebody in the lineup told me that I was only the second minister he had met who was interesting and humorous, but the first one had been drunk at the time. Today: one last session at the Willow Creek's Leadership Summit by satellite (like a wolf among sheep - I'll blog more about that later) and my final exam in my master's degree. After today, it will be all over...at least if I pass. Let this day be over soon!

What was so great about the wedding? Were you able to share the Gospel with an unchurched crowd?

I hope you do well in your exam...one to go before the degree is quite the accomplishment. I honestly didn't know that ministers don't venture from their venue to do weddings very often. It's not unlike living in a parallel universe with dudes like Jacob. All the best today Darren. Blog on!

Most pastors live sheltered lives and never hang around non-church people. This was great because I got to break out of the walls of the church, which Bill Easum says should be at least 20% of a pastor's time. It was also good because I got to tell them that this was exactly the type of crowd Jesus loved to hang around - that he got tired of some of the religious crowd but always had time for people who were real and who came to him just as they were.

Good on ya man! Hang in there, hectic times!

Darryl, I know it was unintended but at the end of a long day, these sentences made me laugh out loud: It wasn't my usual churchy crowd. It was great. I feel that way sometimes.
