Life: good

My father-in-law stood for a minute the other day. He couldn't get up by himself, but once he was standing, he could stay standing. He was tired the rest of the day and it was pretty emotional for everyone. A big step up from the wheelchair. A thought's been on my mind a lot since then. I stand every day for a lot longer than a minute, but I never get emotional about it. I went for a run today, and I'm hoping to do a 10k run on Sunday. I celebrate a birthday tomorrow with two kids who are more excited by it than I am. That's only the start. There's so much I take for granted. Standing (among other things) isn't one of them these days.

I was once very temporarily paralyzed by a wasp biting me on the spinal column five times before he found his way back out my collar. I tend to take standing and walking for granted in spite of that experience, I know there are way to many things I don't appreciate...like seeing, hearing, breathing, talking. They are gifts, aren't they? Have a very Happy Birthday and blog on!
