Preacher wanted

Lousy Ed didn't get a flu shot and won't be able to preach on Sunday, which is supposed to be a day off for me. To top it off, he promised a great narrative sermon that would keep the attention of the kids. Not only do I lose a Sunday but I have to measure up to the heightened expectations. I'm going to compensate by being short. The only thing that can compete with being interesting is being short. Next year I'm giving Ed the flu shot myself. Get better soon, bud.

Woww darrly I sympathize with you...Charles Spurgeon used to preach with inflamed gout and Charles Finney with cancer of the throat and George Whitfield was wheelbarrowed from meeting to meeting and propped up to preach before collapsing in exhaustion in the last days before he died. Whatever happened to "instant in and out of season?" Whatever happened to preaching as though it's your last sermon?

Dave, this is one of the best comments ever!

You're making me feel worst Dave :) Sorry for the heightened expectation, just blame it on my lack of commitment. Appreciate it though - maybe I can return the favour sometime.

Geesh, now I feel so guilty in case you took me seriously Ed...I was just trying to fit in with the tongue cheekness I've observed in some of you Pastors LOL

The only difference is that you're wittier than we are. It made me laugh.
