Discouraged
Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at 6:47PM
The vote's over, and it failed by the slimmest of margins. It needed two-thirds support, and it got 64.7% support. Even worse, the Council's chair confused the issue a little by stating that their position would allow female elders and pastors, just not senior pastors. The worst news is that the group that's in favor seems hell bent on bringing this up until they succeed. I just don't have the time. I'm discouraged - not by the discussion, not by the chair's mistake. I'm discouraged that we seem determined to self-destruct if that's what it takes. It might take a few days to remind myself why I do what I do. It sure has nothing to do with what's transpired over the past few days.

How was the rest of the Convention? Did you get a chance to hear D.A. Carson? Anything positve to report? (we heard all about the negative).
I find the business sessions hopelessly tedious and frequently full of hype. I would have loved to have heard Carson, but I suffer from the curse of all those who live and work near a Convention site: life goes on. I had four nights out last week, none of them at Convention. Maybe I'll order the tapes.
