DVD Rentals in Canada
Monday, November 24, 2003 at 2:58PM
Found through Sandy: a Netflix-type service for Canada called Movies for Me has finally launched. I'm about to sign up for the free trial. Update: In the end, I choked at the price and the brevity (two weeks) of the trial. I don't spend that much on movie rentals. I'm curious to hear from anyone who tries the service, though. Update 2: Evidently, there are a lot of companies that offer this service in Canada, which can only mean that their marketing has been ineffective to date.

The roaring metropolis of Bradford just got it's very own Blockbuster, and it's just around the corner. I'd be hardpressed to go with anything like Netflix. Interesting, though. Canadians are either slow adapters, or the market just doesn't demand things as quickly. Wi-Fi seems to be like this too.
I did the Netflix thing for a couple months. Didn't like it at all. Maybe it's the instant gratification thing. Maybe it's just that I never know what sort of movie I want to watch until I'm ready to watch it. I much prefer just dropping by the rental place and picking something up. Plus, for 20 bucks a month, I can rent as many movies from Blockbuster as I could get from Netflix. And, if I only watch a couple movies a month, I'm not stuck paying the full 20 bucks.
I have been a member at dvdflix.ca for almost a year here in Canada . I love it.I cann't believe my average cost per rental is about two bucks and i don't have to deal with no moron at Block buster telling me i have a late charge! cheers, Gino.
I would have to agree with the comments posted for DVDflix.ca I have had zero problems with them since signing up. The customer service level at DVDFlix has been exemplary. They answer emails round the clock and during office hours their telephone assistance is very helpful. I would recommend them to anyone who likes getting what they want, and getting it quickly.
