Sometimes, the hardest thing to do is nothing

Tomorrow is my day off. If I were Jewish, my day off would start now, at sunset. I kind of like that idea, so I'm starting to take it easy tonight. It's been a very busy Fall. I find it difficult to take my day off and do nothing out of obligation. I usually end up running some errands, returning some phone calls, and performing some chores. Tomorrow, whatever I do is going to be for my enjoyment only. Right after I drop Christina off at school, of course. This blows my mind - that God is concerned that we take a day to look after ourselves. It's not meant as a burden, but as a delight. It's a regular reminder that life goes on even without my work; that God is God and I'm not, and the world gets along really well without me, thanks very much. This is my act of devotion and worship starting now - to do nothing, at least no work, for the next day. The funny thing is that I'll fight it. But right now, the next day looks really nice.
